Basic Facilities of the Scenic Area
The Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction themed around the popular science exhibition of rare wildlife, conservation breeding, sightseeing, and leisure vacation. It is a natural museum that fully displays the island-type tropical rainforest ecosystem and condenses the essence of Hainan Island's flora and fauna.
Established in 1995, the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden is located on the picturesque banks of Dongshan Lake in Dongshan Town, Xiuying District, Haikou City, only 27 kilometers away from the downtown area. The park covers an area of over 1,500 acres (with the animal viewing area alone reaching 1,300 acres), and is home to more than 100 species of rare birds and animals, totaling over 2,000 individuals; there are also more than 280 families of rare tropical plants, comprising over 1,000 varieties, with a tropical forest coverage rate of up to 99%. Entering the scenic area is like stepping into a natural "oxygen bar"; the tour process is akin to experiencing a wonderful "forest bath."
The landscapes within the park are purely natural, with vast forests and dense vegetation creating a favorable living environment for animals; meanwhile, the artificially created jungle paths and planted various exotic flowers and plants make visitors feel as if they are in a vibrant and lively nature, entering a world of exotic and interesting jungle animals.
Tour Experience
The scenic area is mainly divided into a vehicle tour area and a walking tour area. The vehicle tour area breaks away from the traditional urban zoo's high walls and iron cages, allowing various wild beasts to roam freely. Visitors drive through the vehicle tour area of the beast, fully experiencing the wonderful feeling of "people in cages and animals outside."
The star animals of the scenic area include: national treasure giant pandas, Hainan deer, Asian elephants, giraffes, African lions, Siberian tigers, liger, white-cheeked gibbons, black bears, elk, macaques, hippos, black swans, flamingos, etc.
